The lake of Lalla Takerkoust is just less than an hour drive from Marrakech, a great getaway for a day relaxing at the lakeside and to go for a wonderful lunch at one the beautiful restaurants / Maison d’hôtes next to the lake. The views of the High Atlas Mountains with their snowy mountain tops in the distance are breathtaking, and the air is crisp and clean – a big contrast with bustling Marrakech. There are things to do in the area, you can visit the Agafay Mountain and go ‘glamping’: a luxury way of camping out in the arid hills of Agafay. At the camps, there is the opportunity to enjoy a camel ride and to explore the area by quad. If you want something more local, continue from Lalla Takerkoust into the mountains to Imlil, Ouirgane or on to Tinmal mosque, where you can stay the night in a Berber mountain gîte and enjoy a trekking through the nearby valleys. All this is just on a short distance from Marrakech!
We also visit Lalla Takerkoust on the way back from Imlil valley on our day tour to Imlil and Aremd, after descending the windy road from Plateau de Kik that offers spectacular views of the lake, the Agafay mountains and Marrakech in the distance.
