The Arts and Crafts of Morocco | Overview
An enriching day excursion that takes you on a journey to learn more about the arts and crafts of Morocco, across the bustling souks of Marrakech or Fes, showing you all the ins and outs of Morocco’s famous arts and crafts industry. See the carpet weavers, the woodworkers, how Fassi pottery and embroidery is produced, and much more! An enriching learning experience for anyone interested in Morocco’s rich cultural and artistic heritage.
This day excursion is either in the old medina of Marrakech or that of Fes: taking you on a city tour through the old souks (markets) and workshops that produces the most beautiful arts and crafts of Morocco. You will learn all about the traditional producing methods of Fassi pottery, the weaving of carpets, traditional Fassi embroidery, and the leather tanneries. Both in Fes and Marrakech, there is lots to see and learn about these traditional methods that have been passed on from generation to generation. The arts and crafts industry is a characteristic part of Morocco’s cultural heritage!
Note: The excursion is specifically designed to teach you more about the traditional Moroccan craftsmanship and is not aimed for shopping. You will get an idea about how products are made, and if you want to buy something, it is completely on your own initiative. We thus aim to avoid touristic bazaars and tourist traps of which we are convinced they will not give you an integer encounter with the arts and crafts industry.
